The Best Sites for Free SVG Illustrations in 2026
Curated by Musharof Chowdhury · Last reviewed · How we pick
A good illustration library saves you from commissioning art for every empty state, onboarding screen and landing page section. The best ones let you change colours before you download, so the art matches your brand.
Each pick below offers free illustrations you can use in commercial projects. Some require attribution on the free plan, which we note in the verdict.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I download free SVG illustrations?
+
unDraw is the best starting point for flat SVG illustrations you can recolour without attribution. Storyset and Blush are better if you want to customise characters or animate them.
Can I use free illustrations in commercial projects?
+
Yes, on all the sites in this list, but the conditions differ. unDraw and Open Doodles need no credit, while Storyset and Icons8 require attribution on their free plans. Check each site's licence page before using art in a product or ad.
How do I change the colours of an SVG illustration?
+
Most sites in this list let you pick a colour before downloading. Otherwise open the SVG in Figma or a code editor and change the fill values, which works because SVG colours are stored as plain text.
SVG or PNG: which format should I download?
+
Download SVG for websites and apps: it stays sharp at any size, is usually smaller and can be recoloured. Use PNG only where SVG is not supported, such as some email clients and social platforms.
